What is a Voice Gender Analyzer?

A voice gender analyzer examines acoustic characteristics that can influence how a recording may be perceived. This free online tool uses your device's microphone to analyse fundamental frequency, pitch movement, recording quality, and a local spectral-balance proxy directly in the browser.

The result is designed to be explainable: it shows a gender-presentation reference, a score, a confidence level, and the measured cues behind them. It does not determine gender identity, biological sex, or personal identity, and it does not treat one recording as a complete description of a person's voice.

The tool runs entirely in your browser. Your audio is never uploaded to a server. There is no signup required, and you can repeat the test whenever you want.

It can be useful when you are exploring voice training, practising spoken delivery, or comparing a repeated reading over time. The result is an acoustic snapshot, not medical, therapeutic, or identity advice. A voice coach or speech professional can provide personalised guidance when you need it.

For the most comparable sessions, use the same passage, room, microphone position, and speaking style each time. That consistency helps make changes in the median and pitch range easier to interpret than a single isolated number.

How Pitch Affects Voice Perception

Pitch is one of the most noticeable acoustic features of the human voice. Typical speaking pitch ranges vary widely: most adult voices fall somewhere between 85 Hz and 255 Hz, with significant overlap between groups.

Pitch is only one dimension of voice perception. Intonation patterns, spectral balance, resonance, speech rate, language, and listener expectations all shape what someone hears. This analyzer measures pitch movement and a browser-calculated spectral-balance proxy alongside pitch; it does not claim direct formant or clinical resonance measurement.

Pitch naturally varies from person to person and within the same person’s speech. Age, health, emotion, language, emphasis, and the sounds in a sentence can all change a speaking sample. That is why the tool shows both a median and an 80% range instead of treating one moment of speech as the whole voice.

Volume is different from pitch: volume is how loud a sound is, while pitch is how high or low it is. Speaking louder does not automatically raise pitch, but a very quiet or noisy recording can make the underlying pitch harder to measure. A calm, natural recording in a quiet room gives the clearest result.

For people engaged in voice training, tracking pitch over time can be a useful way to monitor practice. The future Pro version is planned to include private history and trend views for that use case.
